Myanmar, Chiang Rai discuss boosting trade and investments

U Min Kyaw Lin, Consul-General of the Myanmar Consulate-General in Chiang Mai, met Mr Phutthiphong Sirimat, Governor of Chiang Rai District, on 21 June to bolster border trade and investments on Chiang Rai-Tachilek-Kengtung channel, according to the Myanmar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Myanmar Consul-General discussed matters regarding the Kengtung Highway being part of the No 2 Asia Highway, promotion of border trade and investments, merchant partnerships between two countries, and consular protection for Myanmar’s migrant workers in Chiang Rai in cooperation with the Chiang Rai district office.
The consul-general also visited Mae Sai and Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Bridge I and Bridge II on 22 June and met Thailand’s immigration and customs officials, where he observed trade flow and border crossing situations. — ASH/KK
