Myanmar attends International Military Technical Forum in Russia

At the opening ceremony on 12 August, President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation delivered a speech via video message before the Minister for Defense of the Russian Federation gave an opening remark and officially inaugurated the Army Forum 2024. Following the ceremony, officials from the invited companies discussed the production status and capabilities of the military equipment displayed in the booths. The attendees toured the military equipment and vehicles.
On the morning of 13 August, the Union Minister and his team visited the Army 2024 forum exhibition for the second day, where they learned about technical equipment for drones and anti-drones, advanced weapons and ammunition, and viewed the displayed combat vehicles. They also observed and studied UAVs and drones.
In the evening, the Myanmar delegation held a meeting with Minister for Defence Mr Andrei Belousov of the Russian Federation at the Ministry of Defence’s meeting hall to discuss increasing cooperation between the two countries in various fields. They focused on strengthening friendship, enhancing military technology cooperation, and exchanging views on sending scholars and the current situation in Myanmar and the region.
On 14 August, the Union Minister visited the Myanmar Embassy, the where he met with the ambassador, the military attachés (Army, Navy and Air), and their families to explain the current developments in the State and present gifts to the families of the staff.
The Army 2024 Forum, held in the Kubinka region of Moscow from 12 to 14 August, featured more than 1,500 booths of advanced technology and was attended by high-ranking defence officials from 52 countries, including 21 deputy prime ministers and defence ministers. The delegation led by Admiral Tin Aung San returned to Yangon on 16 August and was welcomed back at Yangon International Airport by the Yangon Region Chief Minister, the Commander of Yangon Command, the Russian Federation’s military attaché to Myanmar, and other relevant officials. — MNA/TH
