Myanmar attends CIRDAP’s 24th Governing Council Meeting

Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myint Soe attended the 24th Governing Council Meeting of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) in Bangkok, Thailand, on 6 June.
Speaking at the event, the deputy minister said suitable comprehensive approaches should be applied to overcome the challenges and chances for rural development measures in Asia and the Pacific regions. It is essential to draft strategies to ensure rural development activities, and the rural area should be transformed through the development of basic infrastructures such as good transport, clean water, education and healthcare.
Moreover, the firm leadership, commitments and participation of member countries and intellectual exchange among CIRDAP countries should be strengthened.
Then, representatives of member countries discussed agriculture, health, education and rural development activities, new challenges, technologies and funds for the promising projects, rural development policies and strategies, capacity building programmes, workshops, opportunities to cooperate for the required resources and skills among the partner organizations, governments and international agencies.
The Myanmar delegation arrived back in Myanmar on 7 June evening. — MNA/KTZH
