Myanmar and Russia explore future energy sector cooperation

The first meeting of the Myanmar-Russia Energy Sector Cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of Myanmar and the Ministry of Energy of Russia in progress yesterday through videoconferencing.

The first meeting of the Myanmar-Russia Energy Sector Cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation was held yesterday afternoon through videoconferencing, attended by U Thant Sin, Deputy Minister for Energy, Deputy Minister for Energy Mr Sergey Mochalnikov of the Russian Federation, and members of the joint working group.
During the meeting, they discussed the current cooperation between Myanmar and Russia in the energy sector and future plans.
Both sides also focused on issues related to the purchase of LNG, including the development of the natural gas pipeline network, upgrading the existing refineries and construction of new refineries, and import and distribution of petroleum products.
The two sides had a friendly exchange of views on the opportunities for investment in Myanmar’s energy sector and information on the energy sector between the two countries. They also discussed the possibility of holding the second meeting of the joint working group at the end of September 2024. — MNA/KZL
