Myanmar ambassador vows to strengthen ASEAN-Canada partnership

Myanmar delegation led by Myanmar Ambassador U Hau Khan Sum to Canada took part in the 21st ASEAN-Canada dialogue held in Ottawa, Canada on 21 May, reaffirming commitment to further strengthening partnership, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Myanmar ambassador highlighted cooperation between ASEAN and Canada in science, technology and innovative industry, potential cooperation opportunities in future to attain common interests and promote ASEAN-Canada Strategic Partnership and Myanmar following Five-Point Consensus of ASEAN.
The senior officials also reviewed positive progress in the implementation of the ASEAN-Canada Plan of Action 2021-2025, commitments to ASEAN-Canada Strategic Partnership and cooperation between both ASEAN and Canada in three pillars of the ASEAN Community.
Additionally, they also exchanged ideas on the development of cooperation and future plan of actions to elevate the ASEAN-Canada Strategic Partnership.
The 21st ASEAN-Canada Dialogue was co-chaired by Mr Weldon Epp, Assistant Deputy Minister (Indo-Pacific) Global Affairs Canada, and Dato’ Sri Amran Mohamed Zin, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.
Senior officials of the ASEAN and deputy secretary-general for ASEAN Political-Security Community also attended the dialogue. — ASH/EM
