MoSWRR Union Minister meets Interim UNRC, UNHC

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win received Mr Ramanathan Balakrishnan, UN Interim Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator ad interim for Myanmar, at the ministry office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Mr Ramanathan Balakrishnan, who has completed his tour of duty, discussed about UN agencies, the ministry’s humanitarian support for those in need in Myanmar, coordination between UNFPA and the Department of Social Welfare to sign a work plan, visa issues for foreign employees, assistance provision of UNOCHA in Myanmar and cooperation with the ministry after Cyclone Mocha.
The Union minister also highlighted the importance of cooperation between the ministry and partner organizations for needy people, visa verification and approval for foreign employees of international organizations and UN organizations cooperating with the ministry in line with procedures. — MNA/TS
