The Yangon City Development Committee held a workshop for amending the Strategic Urban Development Plan of the Greater Yangon at the Yangon City Hall on Wednesday.
At the meeting, a committee member Dr Zaw Win called for the upgrade of urban railways and railway stations. He also emphasized expanding green spaces and ensuring convenience for the people in the ever-growing city.
Daw Tin Tin Kyi, head of the Urban Planning Department, said: “We plan for the financial year 2023-24 based on the priority list of projects to be finished by 2040. These projects must support making Yangon clean, green, fair and smart.”
She highlighted that the projects must comply with the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan’s frameworks.
Subsequently, the representatives from the Department of Urban and Housing Development of the Ministry of Construction discussed the Central Project Yankin Mixed Use Development, Yankin Kajima Park, Yankin Housing Redevelopment, Golden City Project, HAGL-Phase II, Yankin Housing Phase I, Yanshin Condominium Project Sky Suite and Yangon Southwest New City Development Project.
Additionally, Myanma Railways officials presented the operation status of development works around the Yangon Central Railway Station, junction stations and circular railways.
Moreover, the Thilawa Special Economic Zone Management Committee was debriefed the upgrade of the original economic zone, the development of Zone-B, and the status of the economic zone project. — TWA/NT
