Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than said yesterday that the Prime Minister had given instructions to put Pinpet and Myingyan steel mills into operation again as the country has to import large quantities of steel from abroad due to the failure of full operation by the local steel mills for various reasons.
The Union minister also called on private entrepreneurs to cooperate in the industrial registration process and said that there will be a relaxation of rules and regulations regarding the industrial registration process while inspecting steel mills in Mandalay Region.
He also added that as iron and steel mills are producing iron rods for local consumption, using local resources, the government will provide necessary support and assistance for the constant and full-capacity running of iron and steel mills. — MNA/MKKS
