MoI Union Minister inspects renovation of over 90-year-old IPRD office in Yangon

Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn views round the IPRD office in Yangon yesterday.

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn inspected the Copyrights and Registration Branch of the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD) in Bahan Township and the renovation of the Production Branch and Research and Information Branch of IPRD in Pansodan Street in Yangon Region yesterday.
On arrival at the Copyrights and Registration Branch, the Union minister heard the report of Director U Kyaw Htay regarding the duty assignment, printing, publishing, approvals to news agencies between 2014 and 2023 August and work plans of the branch.
Then, the Union minister said the staff should know the current situations of the global and the country. They also should have political outlook in considering the literature to be published. While the Prime Minister is making efforts to ensure peace, prosperity and food security in the country, the branch plays a key role and should perform its best. It should urge the publishing houses to offer their publications under the law and it needs to consider whether their works of literature is in line with the ethic or law.
Then, he proceeded to the Production Branch and Research and Information Branch of IPRD and inspected the talk show of the Kyauktada Township Book Club, reading and drawing sessions of children at Pyinnya Alinn Library in Kyauktada Township.
He also inspected the heavy maintenance works on over 90-year-old IPRD office.
During the tour, the officials sought permission to renovate the building as per the specific ways for ancient buildings and explained the detailed renovation works. — MNA/KTZH
