MoI facilitates MMPO to revitalize film industry, plan for 2023 Academy Awards

In an effort to rejuvenate the film industry and prepare for the upcoming 2023 Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards, a coordination meeting was convened yesterday at the Department of Information and Public Relations’ Film Promotion Branch in Bahan Township, Yangon.
Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn noted the significant progress in restoring the film industry to normalcy following the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasized the need for discussions on overcoming current challenges in releasing completed films and how to facilitate their distribution. The Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Award Ceremony, organized by the State in 2019, 2020, and 2022, received positive feedbacks from the public, reflecting its success.
The Union minister further encouraged discussions on how MMPO will manage the 2023 Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Award Ceremony. He stressed the importance of collaboration with relevant organizations to promote Myanmar films at international film festivals and ensure the production of high-quality films.
During the meeting, MMPO Chair U Kyi Soe Tun and participants elaborated on the plans to organize the Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Award Ceremony and various ways and means across relevant sectors. Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn facilitated the discussions and concluded the meeting with his closing remarks. — MNA/TS
