MoH specialists conduct field treatments in Taunggyi

A specialist medical team pays treatment to a patient in Taunggyi.

The Ministry of Health is dispatching specialist medical teams from Yangon and Mandalay to regions and states to provide field treatment to patients who need super specialty.
A team consisting of specialists from North Okkalapa General Hospital and Thingangyun General Hospital visited Taunggyi under the arrangements of the Ministry of Health and provided medical treatment to the local residents together with specialists from Sao San Tun General Hospital and Women’s and Children’s Hospital (Taunggyi) on 5 and 6 August.
The public was informed through the hospitals and health centres of each township not only in Taunggyi but also from other townships in Shan State. Patients received a systematic health examination in advance. A total of 549 patients were diagnosed and treated during their trip.
Dr Ko Ko, a professor of diabetes and hormone medicine, gave a lecture about diabetes to the visiting residents, doctors, and nurses.
In addition, arrangements were made for the transfer of one patient who needed neurology treatment to Yangon General Hospital’s Neurology Department, one cardiac patient to North Okkalapa General Hospital and one more for cardiac surgery to Yangon General Hospital.
The Ministry of Health arranged similar programmes twice in Rakhine State and once in Ayeyawady Region in 2023, and will continue to do so in other regions and states as well. — MNA/KZL
