MoFA hosts 3rd Myanmar-Philippines joint commission meeting

The third Meeting of Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Myanmar and the Philippines was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw on 22 May 2019 at 10:00 hrs. The meeting was co-chaired by His Excellency U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and His Excellency Mr. Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines.
During the Meeting, the two Ministers discussed on a wide range of issues relating to promoting bilateral relations and cooperation; enhancing cooperation in trade and investment sectors; operating direct air linkage between the two countries; signing the MoU on Cooperation in Combating Illicit Trafficking and Abuse of Narcotic Drugs and Controlled Precursors Chemicals between the two countries; promoting people-to-people contacts; enhancing cooperation in culture, education, defense, agriculture, fishery and environment, tourism sectors between the two countries; and expanding the multi-faceted cooperation and extending mutual support in both regional and international fora. The two Ministers signed the Agreed Minutes of the Third Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation.
Following the meeting, the Air Services Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines was signed by His Excellency U Kyaw Myo, Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications, and His Excellency Mr. Eduardo E. Kapunan, Jr., the Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar.
Afterwards, His Excellency U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for International Cooperation, hosted a luncheon in honour of His Excellency Mr. Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines and the delegation at Hilton Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw at 1230 hrs.
