MoEE Union Minister calls for reliable, stable electricity supply to Yangon Region

Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo held a coordination meeting on stable and reliable energy supply and operations of substations in Yangon Region yesterday.
During the meeting, the Union Minister highlighted the power consumption rate across the nation, the need to supply stable and reliable electricity, expansion of power grids, and building of more power stations.
Moreover, he said it should make efforts not to experience power outages. It should also inform the public regarding the duration of power cuts after reporting to the officials if the repair works are conducted on power grids and power plants.
The staff need to maintain the public’s recognition for their efforts in providing power and have good social skills for communication with the people. Then, the electrical managers of for four districts of Yangon Region briefed them on the power supply rate, power consumptions, power bill payment and better plans to reduce power shortages.
The Managing Director of Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation clarified the operations for four districts in 2020-2021FY. Other departmental heads presented the electricity generation system of the Yangon Region.
The Union Minister and party then inspected the construction of a SCADA power distribution monitoring system for 17 power plants, an AMI metering system being initiated in seven townships and an automatic billing system used in 23 townships of the Yangon Region. During his inspection, the Union Minister talked about the advantages of the AMI metering system for the public as they can download ‘mebill’ application and check their bill payment for one year and power consumption rate.
People can make an online payment with any banks. He then urged the officials to install the AMI metering system and Automatic Billing system in the whole region. — MNA
