MoALI Union Minister meets water users of Zawgyi and Kinda irrigated cultivation system

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo discussed the use of modern techniques in farming sectors with the dam water users association of Zawgyi and Kinda irrigated cultivation system in Meiktila on 17 May.
The Union Minister talked about water shortage problems under climate change, disputes and rows the farmers and villagers faced for water issues in the past, and the solutions to systematically organize the water users association.
He then said the effective use of water could create coexistence and understanding among the people. Moreover, it should establish cooperative associations for livestock and farming sectors based on such experiences as the solid capital and collective sale system can penetrate the wholesale market. The ministry will provide the needed help in forming the organizations according to the law.
Then, the leaders of water utilization associations explained their ongoing livestock and farming processes and rice production rate of respective villages.
The Union Minister also inspected the practical session of farming machinery maintenance at Meiktila Agricultural Mechanization Training Centre.
The Union Minister and party also met the grape farmers at Chaung Magyi quality crop farm in Yamethin Township. They discussed the potential grape market, production of dried grapes and grape wine as value-added products, exports, and cooperative for grape growers.—MNA
