Hanthawady United smashed Thitsar Arman 1-0 in the Myanmar National League match played at the Thuwunna Youth Training Centre in Yangon yesterday. The goal scored in the second half helped Hanthawady winning over Thitsar.
The Thitsar Arman team has been promoted from this season and despite losing two matches at the beginning of the season, they can play the MNL teams on equal skill.
Both teams came out with a full set of core players, and since there was no difference in terms of skill, both teams were able to attack each other.
Neither team could score in the first half, but Hanthawady won in the 59 minute with Kyaw Myo Naing scoring. The best player award for this match went to Lardin Mawra of Hanthawady United.
Likewise, Dagon Port FC garnered 2-1 win over Ayeyawady United at Pathein Stadium on the same day. Yazar Aung took the leading goal for Ayeyawady in the opening three minutes, but Myo Sett Paing equalized for Dagon Port in the 10 minutes and Mogu scored the winning goal in the 60 minutes via a penalty. Dagon Port’s Captain Mogu secured the best player award for this match.
After the second-day matches, Yangon, Hanthawady and defending champions Shan United secured six points each while Yadanabon, ISPE, Dagon Star, Maha and Dagon Port saved three points each while Ayeyawady, Thitsar Arman, Myawady and Rakhine United missed points. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
