Misinformation spread: false claims of drone-triggered fires in Loikaw

G2

Misinformation has been spreading on social media about a fire at the two-storey market due to incendiary bombs dropped by security forces using drones in Loikaw, Kayah State, yesterday morning.
Regarding the news, according to a security official from Loikaw, no fire was reported at the two-storey market in Zaypine ward. The market was attacked by terrorists using handmade heavy weapons on 24 January. The detonation of handmade explosive devices reportedly caused the fire.
Malicious news media outlets conceal the actions of terrorists, misleading the public about the actions of security forces. They fabricated and distributed false claims on social media, solely aiming to disrupt the peace and stability of the area. — MNA/KZW
