Misinformation alert: DVB accuses Tatmadaw of attacking town market

G2

The malicious media DVB has circulated false news on social media accusing Tatmadaw of attacking the market of Hsihseng Township with heavy weapons in Shan State (South) on 15 February.
Responsible officials clarified that the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF), Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA), and PDF terrorists attacked the security forces and the Pa-O National Organization (PNO) militia with small arms and heavy weapons that day.
They also intentionally targeted the market, resulting in its destruction by fire. KNDF and PDF terrorists had reportedly attacked the Loikaw market previously.
Malicious media outlets apparently fabricated news reports to mislead the public about the security forces’ efforts to maintain law and order. — MNA/NT
