Merit shared for martyred leaders on 74th Martyrs’ Day in Nay Pyi Taw

Alms-food offering and merit sharing ceremony are held in Nay Pyi Taw in commemorating the 74th Martyrs’Day.

On the 74th Martyrs’ Day, a donation ceremony was held at the Nay Pyi Taw Council Office yesterday morning and merit was shared for the leaders who sacrificed their lives for the country.
The ceremony was graced by Sayadaws headed by Aung Si Thar Pariyatti Monastery Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Wisakkhana, Principal of State Central Working Committee of the Sangha of All Orders, Pobbathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman Dr Maung Maung Naing, Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command Maj-Gen Zaw Myo Tin, Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Aye Tun, Nay Pyi Taw Council members and officials attended the ceremony.
First, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman Dr Maung Maung Naing paid homage to the Buddha image in the hall and donated fruits, flowers, drinking water and lamps to the Buddha.
Next, the attendees took the Five Precepts from Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Wisakkhana and listened to the Sayadaws and Sanghas recitation of Paritta.
After that, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman Dr Maung Maung Naing, Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command Maj-Gen Zaw Myo Tin, Deputy Minister U Aye Tun, Nay Pyi Taw Council members Colonel Min Naung and U Myint Soe donated offertories to the Sayadaws and Sanghas.
Then, the guests who attended the ceremony paid homage to the Sayadaws and listened to the Dhamma from Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Wisakkana followed by sharing merit to the martyrs.
At 10:37 am, those in attendance paid a two-minute silence to the martyred leaders who gave their lives for the country.
The ceremony was concluded after offering day-meals to the Sayadaws and Sanghas. —MNA
