The Myanmar Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has issued a warning, alerting the public to the fraudulent activities of individuals using fake social network accounts in the name of the embassy to deceive Myanmar migrant workers in Malaysia.
These scammers have established counterfeit social media profiles under the guise of the Myanmar embassy. They spread false written statements, claiming to be handling passport matters for Myanmar citizens residing in Malaysia. This misinformation has prompted the embassy to launch an investigation and initiate actions to unveil the identities of these fraudsters, as well as those associated with these fraudulent social media accounts, all under the law.
It has been clarified that these social media profiles have no affiliation with the Myanmar embassy in Kuala Lumpur whatsoever. The embassy firmly asserts that it will not assume responsibility for addressing any issues arising from the fraudulent activities.
To facilitate genuine services, the Myanmar embassy has released dates for passport appointments for Myanmar nationals on its official social media page and website. For passport inquiries, individuals are encouraged to either visit the embassy in person during working hours or directly call the embassy at + (603)4251 4455. — TWA/MKKS
