According to the Mon State government, the Union National Races Cultural Centre, currently under construction in Mawlamyine Township, Mon State, will feature traditional homes representing the Mon, Kayin, Pa-O, and Bamar races.
The centre is built with the purpose of preserving the languages, literature, fine arts, cultures, traditions, national identities, and historical heritage of the indigenous peoples living in Mon State, as well as promoting unity, friendship, and mutual support among different races.
UHM Company, along with members of literature and cultural associations representing various races, including the state chief minister, discussed the construction of traditional homes and buildings representing four races at the centre. The discussion took place on 19 June at the office of the Mon State government.
During the discussion, they talked about the processes involved in constructing each traditional home, iconic landmarks and the promotion of cultural heritage. — ASH/TKO
