Although nurses and staff were off, Kyaikto People’s Hospital could save a pulmonary oedema patient with opaque right lung.
Just on the day the patient arrived back to his village from Yangon after receiving medical treatment, he suffered having severe difficulty with breathing again, and he arrived, the hospital gave necessary injections but the condition didn’t improve, the hospital said on 17 May.
According to medical history, the patient is suffering acute condition of having fluids in lung due to a disease.
“The electricity was out but we took X-ray by using a generator. Under the X-ray result, his right lung was opaque with fluids. At that time, nurses and medical staff were off, but we called them and asked to prepare for removing fluids in emergency,” the hospital’s statement said.
The patient could breath well after three litres of fluids were removed from lung, it said.
“Despite being exhausted, we are glad to see the patient is feeling well. It is a moment all the staff smile at the same time. Nobody can know the meaning of this smile, except us,” said the statement by the hospital. — MT/ZS/ED
