K7.5 billion worth of stimulant tablets seized in Madaya

The Myanmar Police Force reported the seizure of a total of five million stimulant tablets, valued at K7.5 billion, in Madaya Township, Mandalay Region.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined team comprising members of the Anti-Drug Police Force apprehended Yaza Moe, Ma La Min Nwe, Thein Zaw (aka) Chit Hmwe, Phyu Phyu Htwe, and Ma Yaminthu (aka) Min Min, who were transporting stimulant tablets in two motorboats, in Madaya Township at 6 pm on 6 March. The police discovered 5 million stimulant tablets concealed within charcoal bags.
Following interrogation, the police arrested Sai Min Thu and Htun Than, who had the drugs carried, in Madaya Township at 7 am on 7 March.
The culprits confessed that the seized drugs were transported by motorboat along the water route from Nawnghkio Township in Shan State (North) to Madaya Township in Mandalay Region.
Legal action has been initiated against offenders, and an ongoing investigation is underway to apprehend other individuals involved in the case. — MNA/MKKS
