K12.5 bln worth of stimulant tablets seized in Shan State (South)

A total of 25 million stimulant tablets, valued at K12.5 billion, were seized in Yatsauk Township of Shan State (South), as reported by the Myanmar Police Force.
Following a tip-off, a combined team, including members of the Anti-Drug Police Force, conducted a search on a Hilux car driven by Zaw Win Thein, accompanied by Htoo Wint Maung, and a Canter six-wheel truck driven by Aung Pyaesone Oo (aka) Pyaesone, accompanied by Ma Htoo Htoo Aung, near Htatkwin village on Yatsauk-Intaw road in Yatsauk Township at 7:30 pm on 17 January. The police captured 25 million stimulant tablets worth K12.5 billion hidden under charcoal bags from the Canter six-wheel truck.
As per the investigation, the police arrested Aung Kyaw Myo (aka) Ye Htut (aka) Shan Lay, who was in charge of transporting the drugs, at his house in Shwenyaung at 11:30 pm.
The investigation revealed that the confiscated drugs were intended to be transported from Kyaukgu village in Yatsauk Township to Shwenyaung in Taunggyi Township.
Legal action has been taken against the offenders, and an investigation is underway to identify others involved in the criminal chain. — MNA/MKKS
