Journey of PhaungdawU Buddha images resumes this year

The Buddha images from the PhaungdawU Pagoda in Nyaungshwe Township, Shan State (South), will start an itinerary that includes a visit to 24 places to receive a devotional offering after around four years of suspension starting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The journey will last from 15 October to 1 November this year according to the traditional way, and it was started to contribute to the merit of people, as the Board of Trustees of the pagoda elaborated.
According to the arrangement, places that Buddha images will go other than the PhaungdawU Monastery are Inntein Kyaypawkhon Monastery, Inntein Monastery, Heya Ywama Monastery, Ngaphechaung Monastery, Kyaysar Monastery, Pwasarkon Monastery, Linkin Monastery, Nyaungshwe Monastery, Nanthae Monastery, Mongthauk Monastery, ThalaeU Monastery, Kayla Monastery, Zayatgyi Monastery, South Alotawpauk Monastery, Nantpan Monastery, Magyeesate Monastery, Kyaikkham Monastery, Mongpyo Monastery, Nauktaw Monastery, Inpawkhon Monastery, and Yaytha Monastery.
Not only locals but also foreign nationals are interested in the festival, and traditional boat race will also be included in it. — TWA/CT
