Incoming members of Myanmar Press Council takes office

A ceremony to hand over the responsibility of the Myanmar Press Council to new members was held at the office of the council in Yangon yesterday.
The ceremony began with opening remarks by Chairman of the MPC U Ohn Kyaing (Hanthawady) and Vice Chairman-1 Dr. Myo Thant Tin.
On behalf of the outgoing members of the MPC, Dr. Myo Thant Tin, Daw Thin Thin Thar and U Min Han delivered those documents detailing the works and financial matters of the first three-year term of the council to incoming members U Kyaw Naing, U Kyaw Swa Min and U Thein Soe. Afterwards, U Ohn Kyaing (Hanthawady) presented the badges of the council to the incoming members.
U Kyaw Swa Min, Secretary of the council, reported on the work done in the first three-year term, as well as the future work to be performed by the second three-year term of the council.
The ceremony came to an end with concluding remarks by U Kyaw Naing, Vice Chairman-2 of the council. The Myanmra Press Council was established on 11 November 2015, in accordance with Section 13 of the News Media Law and with presidential notification No. 68/2015.
The council elected new members and formed the council for the second three-year term on 30 October, 2018, based upon Presidential notification 82/2018. — MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Lin)
