Illegal timbers, machines, foodstuffs, industrial materials, medications and vehicles confiscated

The combined teams on 31 August seized 79.254 tonnes of illegal teak worth K52,308,102, three 22-wheel trucks with trailers, a crane and a motorboat (estimated value of K840 million) at the Wataya Port in Shwepyitha township and 172.008 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K113,598,078 in Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
An on-duty team under the supervision of the Kachin State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force captured a Doosan excavator, a Komatsu excavator, a Volvo excavator and a cat-320C excavator (estimated value of K120 million) on 1 September and action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
The combined teams on 2 September confiscated a Yutong bus (approximately K20 million) carrying 3,960 litres of RBD palm Olein worth K10.78 million without official documents at the Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyine) combined checkpoint and a Nissan diesel tractor head with a trailer (approximately K76 million), headed to Mandalay from Muse, carrying 900 kilogrammes of Hummer worth K37.897 million that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Milepost 23/2 on Muse- Mandalay road. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The combined on-duty teams impounded a Mitsubishi Fuso (estimated value of K30 million), headed to Yangon from Myawady, carrying five kinds of goods worth K13,325,242 including 1,100 boxes of Furosic 40 mg medicine and 768 kilogrammes of envelop near the Famous fuel filling shop in Phayagyi and a total of 1.956 tonnes of illegal timbers in Toungoo district on 3 September and a total of 3.499 tonnes of illegal teak and 0.186 tonne of illegal hardwood worth K1,650,436 in Bago district. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A total of 15 arrests were made on five consecutive days from 31 August to 4 September with an estimated value of K1,315,695,792, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/ MKKS
