Illegal timbers, cosmetics, boats and vehicles confiscated

On 31 October, a combined team led by the Tatmadaw (Navy) under the supervision of the Taninthayi Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections in the Kyunsu township of Myeik district.
Officials captured a total of 10.2874 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K1,543,110 from a wooden- boat and related things at an estimated value of K1,350,000 at the south coast of Thankadawbayaw of Thechaung village and a total of 5.2028 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K780,420 from a wooden-boat and related things (approximately K1,050,000) at the west off the coast of Tayapaing village. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, a combined team led by the Police Lt-Col of the Hlegu District Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force nabbed an unregistered Hijet (Daihatsu) car (estimated value of K3.5 million) near Dayelbo Tollgate on Yangon-Bago Road. The action was taken under the Law.
On 1 November, an on-duty team under the instructions of the Kayin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force made inspections at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint and seized 10 rolls of textile worth K2.5 million without official documents from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Afterwards, a combined team led by the Customs Department confiscated K12,912,000 worth of cosmetics (made in Thailand) without official documents from a passenger bus heading from Tahley to Taunggyi at the Noungnon Combined Checkpoint of Kengtung township. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 2 November, a total of 9.6474 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K4,823,700 was captured in Nyaunglebin and Thayawady districts and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, seven arrests (approximately K28,459,230) were made on three consecutive days from 31 October to 2 November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
