In this year’s matriculation examination, a male student from the International Buddhist Education Centre (IBEC), which has managed to continue opening the school despite various difficulties, stood first prize in the Sagaing Region.
In addition to the regular examination in March, special examinations were held in April and May, and the results were announced at the respective centres in townships at 6 am on 11 June simultaneously.
A total of 134 IBEC students sat for the examination, and 36 of them passed, with a pass rate of 27 per cent. Maung Zwe Zarni Aung, Roll No-SaSaKa 625, from IBEC, passed with five distinctions, scoring a total of 493 marks.
As there was a precedent in 2018-2019, this is the second time the school stood first.
“I am glad that one of our students stood first in the matriculation examination in Sagaing Region. Another point we are glad of is that we managed to continue opening our school despite many challenges since we realized that education can never stop. I had to talk boldly against some people who were threatening my life after visiting foreign countries. As these children became successful after continuous schooling, I am gladder and more delighted than others on behalf of them. For those who know the value, it is of great value. For those who don’t, it is of no value,” Venerable Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Dr Ashin Sobhita, the Stockholm World Peace Prize Laureate, known as IBEC Sayadaw, told The Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM).
In the 2024-2025 academic year, the IBEC has introduced a Grade 12 Special Class with lectures given by professors and lecturers from relevant universities under close supervision of IBEC Sayadaw and a retired pro-rector of Sagaing University. — Thuta Kyaw/ZN
