Hluttaws to observe International Democracy Day-2019 on grand scale

Hluttaw will celebrate the International Democracy Day for 2019 on a grand scale in conjunction with the 130th anniversary of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Day on 15 September.
Regarding the holding of the two events simultaneously, a work coordination meeting was held at the Hluttaw Building in Nay Pyi Taw at 2 pm yesterday.
The meeting was attended by Speaker of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and Pyithu Hluttaw U T Khun Myat, Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw Mahn Win Khaing Than, Deputy Speaker of Pyithu Hluttaw U Tun Aung (a) U Tun Tun Hein, Deputy Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw U Aye Tha Aung, Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun, Deputy Minister for Education U Win Maw Tun, MPs and departmental officials.
Speaking at the meeting, U T Khun Myat said the purpose of the meeting was to discuss celebrating the International Democracy Day for 2019 on 15 September.
He said the Hluttaws intended to hold the 9th International Democracy Day with full essence, adding that the 130th anniversary of Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) would be celebrated at the same event in conjunction with the International Democracy Day.
Afterwards, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than said the celebration of International Democracy Day -2019 needed to be more impressive than the previous year as the event to observe the Inter-Parliamentary Union-IPU would be celebrated at the same time.
He continued to say that he was confident that the event would be successfully held with the cooperation of the various Hluttaws and ministries concerned.
Afterwards, Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Tun Aung (a) U Tun Tun Hein, Chairman of the Leading Committee for Holding the International Democracy Day-2019, and Deputy Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw U Aye Tha Aung, Vice Chairman of the same committee, explained measures to be taken for holding the event.
U Kyaw Soe, Director-General of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Office and Secretary of the Leading Committee for Holding the International Democracy Day reported on matters related to formation of leading committee and work committees.
Afterwards, Deputy Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun, Deputy Minister for Education U Win Maw Tun, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture U Tun Ohn, MPs and departmental officials discussed the measures to be taken.
The meeting came to an end with concluding remarks by the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Speaker. —MNA (Translated by TTN)
