Govt continues importing oxygen tanks

AS the country needs oxygen supplies in COVID-19 control operations, the officials make efforts to produce oxygen from the government and Tatmadaw-owned oxygen plants, private-owned oxygen plants and import oxygen-related products with the donations of donors.
One 26-metric ton tanker carrying liquid oxygen ordered from the foreign countries to use in public hospitals and COVID-19 centres of Mandalay Region arrived yesterday. It was welcomed by region Administration Council Chairman U Maung Ko, Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen Ko Ko Oo and other officials.
Then, the Chairman of Public Health and Fund Rising Committee of Urban Development transferred the tanker to the Superintendent of Mandalay General Hospital.
The Tatmadaw, Ministry of Health and Sports, Regional Administration Council and donors worked together in ordering the liquid oxygen and they will systematically distribute oxygen to the hospitals and the patients in need of oxygen. The further liquid oxygen will arrive in the country very soon.
Moreover, the government permitted the private entrepreneurs to import medical supplies via border trade camps to conduct COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities. Therefore, 2,785 oxygen cylinders (40 litres) imported by a private company arrived at the Chinshwehaw border camp in northern Shan State. Similarly, 50 oxygen cylinders (60 litres), 789 cylinders (40litres), 70 cylinders (20 litres) and 104 cylinders (10 litres) were imported using the cash contribution of well-wishers were received via the Myawady border trade camp.
The oxygen cylinders will be distributed to Yangon, Bago and Mandalay regions. — MNA
