Germany donates 154 million kyats to “We Love Yangon”

On behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, Germany Embassy Yangon donates 154 million kyats (equivalent to Euro 100,000) to “We Love Yangon”, a local nonprofit organization which is supporting the residents of Yangon in the difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The donation was made yesterday morning by German Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Thomas Neisinger at the We Love Yangon office and received by U Phyo Min Thein, Chief Minister of the Yangon Region government, on behalf of We Love Yangon.
The donation made by Germany will be spent on protective equipment and basic food items for people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic reaching 4,801 families living in 42 townships in Yangon Region.
Ambassador Neisinger said, “We are happy to support Myanmar people in this unprecedented and difficult time. We feel solidarity with the most vulnerable part of the Myanmar population who are most affected by the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. I am confident that Germany and We Love Yangon can bring some light to Myanmar families these Thadingyut days.”
“We Love Yangon is extremely happy to receive the support and donation made by German Ambassador for our fight against COVID-19. We will always remember the donation of Euro 100,000 made by Germany as a symbol of great relationship between the two countries,” said U Zaw Win Khine, Secretary of We Love Yangon. Germany has supported the United Nations organizations as well as other health and humanitarian partners in the fight against COVID-19 both globally and in Myanmar.—GNLM
