A forest fire broke out starting night on 1 March in Mount Zwekabin in Hpa-an township of Kayin State.
Though the fire lasted for a day and a half, it could not be extinguished due to the surrounding area at the top of the mountain. A member of the Myanmar Social Rescue told the Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM) that the fire was caused by dried grass due to the heat, burning at the same time in the east and north of the mountain up to the space under the cable glass square.
The forest fire started on 1 March night and was extinguished on 3 March. In 2020, a forest fire has been occurred for about a week in Mount Zwekabin. — TWA/MKKS
