Five million doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine donated by PRC arrive in Yangon

The first batch of five million doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines arrived at Yangon International Airport by Sichuan Airlines yesterday morning as the People’s Republic of China will donate ten million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Myanmar.
Counsellor Mr Tan Shufu of the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar and embassy officials handed over the vaccines and Director-General of the Department of Public Health under the Ministry of Health Dr Myint Than, Assistant Secretary from the Ministry of Health Dr Ye Min Htwe and officials from Yangon Region Public Health and Medical Services Departments received the vaccines.
Five million syringes for Sinopharm vaccine doses will arrive on 19 May and further five million syringes plus five million doses of COVID-19 vaccines on 28 and 29 May respectively.
Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines will be stored at the Central Vaccine Depot in the Public Health Department, Mindhamma Road in Yangon and will continue to be distributed to regions and states with the help of the Tatmadaw (Air) and Myanmar Airways. — Nyein Thu(MNA)
