First COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in Rikhawdar

As the country’s roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines accelerates, the first COVID-19 vaccination campaigns in Rikhawdar town began on 2 August at Rikhawdar station hospital, said Dr San Mar, in charge of Rikhawdar station hospital.
The 26 departmental staff received the vaccines against COVID-19 as the first dose at Rikhawdar station hospital on 2 August from 9:30 am to 11 am.
“The COVID-19 vaccines are being administered from 9:30 am to 11 am. We have received vaccine quotas for 26 people from Rikhawdar town. Currently, the departmental staff, bank employees who interact with the public are given priority for the vaccination. The 26 departmental staff received the first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine supplied by China,” said Dr San Mar.
Each person of 26 staff must receive two doses of the vaccine. The second dose will be administered on 30 August 2021.
“People should receive the COVID-19 vaccines. And, these vaccines are safe. According to the research in other countries, there is no guarantee that the vaccine is actually going to be effective and the virus will not be returned after vaccination,” she added.
As of 2 August, Rikhawdar registered 310 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 303 recoveries and four total deaths, according to the Ministry of Health. Those confirmed COVID-19 patients are put in home quarantine while some are currently undergoing medical treatment at the Rikhawdar station hospital. — Lu Lay/GNLM
