The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning regarding the seven unregistered cosmetics as it identified they contain hazardous substances and chemicals that are harmful to health and proven unsafe.
Under the guidance of the Ministry of Health, the FDA has been monitoring the market systematically to ensure the quality of cosmetics that are considered safe for use. When the FDA inspected seven cosmetics that were distributed locally in 2023, they were found unregistered and contained harmful and prohibited chemicals that pose health risks. Therefore, the FDA warns the public of these unsafe cosmetics.
They are Y-CID/Diamond Meteor eyeshadow ball 03 5g, I U Beauty/lip gloss 04 4.8ml, Mila Color/Primer eyebrow kit 03 9g, Kiss Beauty/blush power 2#, Sunset Beauty/eyeshadow palette 19.7g, Mila Color/Peach Sweet palette makeup set 56g and Mila Color/Fresh Lemon 10 Color eyeshadow palette 01.
Those prohibited chemicals can cause skin irritation, swelling, rash, numbness, muscle cramps, fatigue, headaches, dizziness and depression. Prolonged exposure can also lead to kidney failure and other chronic diseases.
Thus, cosmetic importing companies, distributors, wholesalers and retailers should not ethically distribute unregistered cosmetics that are declared unsafe for use. The relevant authorities will take legal action against them under Section 3, Chapter 3(D) of the Public Health Law for non-compliance. — NN/EM
