False reports circulated regarding alleged arrests, military pledges at swimming pool

G1

Subversive media outlets are circulating false information alleging that security forces arrested over 20 youths who were swimming at Min Gyi Hotel’s swimming pool and forcibly asked them to sign a guarantee to serve in the military. Additionally, some were purportedly arrested on 9 June in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region.
According to a clarification from the relevant security officer, on 9 June, administration officials intervened to resolve a conflict following a report of a fight among young people who were swimming at the Min Gyi Hotel’s swimming pool. No arrests were made, and nobody was asked to pledge to serve in the military.
Malicious media outlets are intentionally spreading falsehoods about the People’s Military Service Law from its effective date onward in order to cause public concern. — MNA/TRKM
