Certain media outlets are circulating false information alleging that on May 28, security forces conducted vehicle checks at the entrance and exit points and along the roads in Oakshikpin, Padaung Township, Bago Region. They claimed that individuals without citizenship scrutiny cards and motorcyclists without motorcycle licences or helmets were detained for military service and that over a hundred youths were arrested.
However, an official from the township management administration stated that on May 28, systematic education and enforcement of traffic regulations were carried out in conjunction with relevant authorities in Padaung Township to prevent traffic accidents. There were no youth arrests during this operation.
Since the implementation of the People’s Military Service Law, unlawful media outlets have been spreading various fabricated news stories to intimidate the public, levelling baseless accusations and engaging in malicious propaganda. — MNA/TKO
