AN EU delegation visited camps for the internally displaced persons (IDP) in Kyaukme, northern Shan State on Thursday, investigating their conditions.
The eight-member delegation talked to IDPs there, querying their conditions at the camps established at monasteries.
More than 3,500 IDPs in total are sheltering at 20 camps in Kyaukme.
Fighting broke out between the Restoration Council of the Shan State/Shan State Army-South and the Ta’ang
National Liberation Army (TNLA) in early February and has driven local villagers from their homes.
Local authorities and NGOs are providing them with food and health care services.
They also provide those who wish to return home with K 10,000 and a bag of rice.
