Egg price on gradual fall

With the poultry catcher wages rising, egg prices fell slightly in the domestic market, indicating a drop of K700 within five days.
The price touched a high of K4,900 per viss on 29 November and then moved slowly to K4,700 on 5 December, K4,200 on 9 December and K4,000 on 10 December.
The egg prices move in the range between K145 and K360 per piece depending on weight (17, 20, 21, and 24 kilogrammes) in the wholesale Yangon market.
A mobile egg shop offered lower pricing plus additional benefits (Buy 20 pieces/Get 3 to 5 extra) on 24 November on the corner of Mahabandula Road and 18th Street. Afterwards, the shop offered only one extra if one bought ten pieces.
When the egg prices decreased again, the shop offered the additional benefit (Buy 20 pieces/Get five extra) again, Ko Aung Kyi from Latha Township said.
Transport disruption amid the fuel oil crunch caused the prices of eggs from the PyinOoLwin and Taunggyi areas to slide.
Nevertheless, the prices of breakfast food become higher amid the inflation of commodity prices.
The prices of some breakfast delicacies doubled this year. The cooking gas filling costs and charcoal prices have been rising recently. — TWA/KK
