DPM Union Foreign Affairs Minister receives Indian Ambassador-designate

The newly appointed Indian Ambassador calls on Deputy Prime Minister and Union Foreign Affairs Minister U Than Swe yesterday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Than Swe received Mr Abhay Thakur, Ambassador-designate of the Republic of India to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday.
During the call, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs extended congratulations to the Ambassador-designate for the latter’s appointment as Ambassador of India to Myanmar. They cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further consolidation of the existing friendly bilateral relations between the two countries, expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas, including bilateral trade, investment and connectivity, as well as closer collaboration for the maintenance of peace and stability along the border between Myanmar and India. The Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister also apprised the Ambassador-designate of the latest developments in Myanmar. — MNA
