DPM MoTC Union Minister inspects railway upgrades, departmental activities in Bago

State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo hears the report by an official on Electronic Interlocking System yesterday during his inspection tours in Yangon and Bago.

State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, accompanied by Deputy Minister U Aung Myaing and officials, inspected the circular train services at Yangon Railway Station. They assessed the ongoing renovation of the exit platform to accommodate new DEMU coaches, focusing on ensuring passenger safety and convenience during embarking and disembarking, as well as optimizing the efficiency of station staff operations.
The Deputy Prime Minister and officials then embarked on an RBE train journey from Yangon to Bago station to test the increased speed capabilities enabled by the completed upgrade of the Yangon-Mandalay Railway.
Following the inspection, General Mya Tun Oo engaged with Myanma Railways’ managing director and regional officials to address issues such as clearing litter along the railway tracks, removing squatter tents, and ensuring orderly passenger boarding and disembarking at Toegyaungkalay Station. Additionally, the General inspected the newly installed Relay Interlocking System at Kyauktan Station to evaluate its operation and maintenance.
The Deputy Prime Minister, accompanied by the Bago Region Chief Minister, continued the inspection by train, assessing railway sections damaged by recent floods between Bago and Shwehlay stations. He also examined the newly installed motor-operated railway interchange at Bago Station, emphasizing the importance of proper handling and maintenance of the advanced electronic interlocking and train control systems.
The General and officials also had lunch with departmental staff at Bago City Hall. The General encouraged staff to focus on professional development, knowledge acquisition, and the establishment of departmental libraries. He also visited the Myanmar Post in Bago, where he met staff and their families, highlighting the need for effective communication about the postal service’s capabilities.
Furthermore, General Mya Tun Oo and officials boarded the RBE special train from Bago station to assess the progress of railway and bridge construction along the Bago-Yangon route. The inspection focused on increasing track mileage, station improvements, overall railway safety, and the removal of settlers. — MNA/TRKM
