It is under discussions for call centre and delivery to meet demand amidst plenty of interest in door to door palm oil sales in Yangon Region, according to an official from the Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers Association.
In 44 townships in Yangon Region, under the supervision of the Committee for Importing, Storage and Distribution of Edible Oil, palm oil importing companies are distributing palm oil to people on a daily/monthly basis through retailers and wholesalers, but for those who cannot buy in this way, door to door sales were arranged two viss a month for a family.
They started collecting orders by phones on 31 July and already distributed to more than 12,000 households until 14 August.
“Door to door system reached more than expected. The consumers are very happy for home delivery. It is more convenient for workers’ families. So, demand is much higher than expected. We distributed to more than 12000 families from 31 July to 14 August. About 900 families per day in 14 days. We are preparing to deliver to 3000-4000 households a day,” he said.
In addition to call centre phone number 01-2399222 with seven extensions, another nine extensions were opened due to the high load of orders.
“We are facing system errors and server down time at call centre as there were tens of thousands of calls daily. We didn’t expect it. The system can’t handle a hundred or thousand calls a time, resulting technical errors. We are discussing for two or more call centres as well as delivery to meet demand. We are planning for resuming accepting orders and meeting demand,” he said.
For two-viss per family per month schedule, home delivery fees are not more than K2000 for 33 townships in Yangon Development Committee’s area and not more than K2500 for 11 outskirt townships such as Taikkyi, Mhawby, Hlegu, Htaukkyant, Kayan, Thongwa, Thanlyin and Kyauktan. – MT/ZN
