Senior General Min Aung Hlaing addressed officers and trainees Saturday at the Defence Services Academy in PyinOoLwin, stressing discipline and obedience as the two most important characteristics of the military.
“A great leader was once a great follower,” the commander-in-chief told the officers, urging them to continue their military learning so as to build the Tatmadaw into a force trusted by the public.
He spoke of the defence services’ role in the country’s transition to democracy, and the prospects of signing a nationwide ceasefire agreement with ethnic armed groups.
He also pointed out the need for military personnel to help with recovery activities in disaster-hit areas.
After the meeting, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspected construction works at the academy’s football ground. He also went to the Defence Services Garment Factory in PyinOoLwin and gave instructions on production of high-quality clothing.
