Digital payroll service for civil servants’ payroll plans to extend

The Central Bank of Myanmar has issued a directive that digital salary payment for civil servants has been planned to extend.

Ministries and government organizations in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area initiated the digital payroll service as of May 2023, and at present, civil servants in Yangon, Mandalay and other regions and states have been paid monthly by digital pay, worth totalling more than K9billion.

In order to help civil servants efficient withdrawing, ATMs have been provided in different regions and states, so far 1908 ATMs in Yangon Region, 707 ATMs in Mandalay Region and 332 ATMs in Nay Pyi Taw and will expand if necessary, the directive said.

CBM has also instructed government organizations in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay to expand the digital payroll system through negotiations with respective banks.

At present, of authorized payroll service providers, KBZ, UAB, CB, AYA, Wave Money, OK Dollar, Zego Money, Uni Pay, True Money, Shwe Rural and Urban Development Bank, Trusty Ecommerce, A Bank, AGD, MAB, M-Pitesan and MCB Bank are included.

List of people on the payroll and how to receive payroll service from banks or financial institutions need to be proposed to CBM and ministries and government organizations will need to cooperate in practising digital payroll system, it said.
