Diarrhoea awareness programmes launched in markets in Yangon

The Ministry of Health stated that there have been 115 patients with diarrhoea as of 10 July.

 

The Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) is conducting diarrhoea awareness programmes at markets throughout the Yangon Region.
YCDC and the Public Health Department, in cooperation with township departments, have carried out health education and posted information about severe diarrhoea at the markets in Botahtaung Township, Tamway Township, Thingangyun Township, Thuwunna, South Okkalapa Township, and Kyimyindine Township.
Since 25 June, some patients with symptoms of severe diarrhoea have been admitted to hospitals in certain townships in the Yangon Region. This is being managed with the close supervision and support of the Ministry of Health and the instruction of the Yangon Region government. Special attention is being given to schools, factories, workshops, monasteries, nunnery schools, nursing homes, charity centres, training schools, and boarding houses to prevent the spread of severe diarrhoea.
The environmental cleanliness of markets in Yangon Region is being checked with checklists to address necessary demands promptly. At public hospitals, systematic medical treatment is provided to ensure that patients with diarrhoea receive essential care, with particular emphasis on providing medicines and infection control activities.
According to the Ministry of Health, the number of patients in some townships in the Yangon Region was 63 on 6 July, 44 on 7 July, 60 on 8 July, 64 on 9 July, and 115 on 10 July, with 87 of these patients discharged on 10 July. — TWA/TKO
