Despite fewer domestic visitors due to rain and the approaching school opening, there are still regular travellers, according to local care ticket sales centres.

“During the rainy season, there are fewer local travellers. As the schools are about to open, people don’t travel. It is one point and rain is another point. The reasons are the weather and delay time in journeys,” said an official from a bus ticket sales centre at the Aung Mingalar Highway Bus Terminal.

The number of travellers increased in May, but it decreased due to rain and approaching school opening.

“The number of travellers has decreased from many. But there are still regular travellers. It went down compared to the previous months. It is usual at this time of the year,” said U Myint Tun, a bus ticket seller.

The number of local travellers increased significantly in April with many visitors during Thingyan and there were heat shelter trips to beaches and cold areas due to the very hot weather.
