Deputy PM MoFA Union Minister attends Swearing-in Ceremony of new Iranian President

Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, who is now in Iran at the official invitation of Mr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Parliament of Iran, attended the Swearing-in Ceremony of Mr Masoud Pezeshkian, new President of the Islamic Republic of Iran which was held at the General Assembly of the Islamic Parliament of Iran in Tehran on 30 July 2024.
The commemorative group photo was taken before the opening of the ceremony, and Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe took part in the event together with the Heads of Delegation from the participating countries.
The Swearing-in Ceremony was attended by Heads of State, Heads of Government, Speakers of Parliament and Members of Parliament, Ministers for Foreign Affairs and Special Envoys from more than 80 countries.
As per the programme, Mr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Parliament of Iran, delivered welcome remarks at the ceremony, followed by the speech delivered by Mr Mohseni Ejei, Chief Justice of Iran.
Afterwards, new President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr Masoud Pezeshkian took an oath and delivered an address. The swearing-in ceremony was concluded after the closing speech by Mr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Parliament of Iran.
On the evening of 30 July 2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, together with Heads of Delegation from other countries, attended a State Banquet hosted by Iran’s President Mr Masoud Pezeshkian in honour of visiting delegations.
While in Iran, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs apprised the Heads of Delegation of the Myanmar Government’s efforts to ensure peace, development and democracy in the country and the latest developments taking place in Myanmar.
Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar were also present at the swearing-in ceremony held in Tehran together with Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe.
The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran arranged a visit to the National Museum of Iran and the Museum of Islamic Archaeology and Art of Iran in Tehran to the dignitaries and delegations of the participating countries.
Mr Masoud Pezeshkian, new President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was born in 1954. He is a cardiac surgeon. He had earlier served as Deputy Minister for Health in 1997, Minister for Health from 2001 to 2005, and the First Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Parliament of Iran from 2016 to 2020 respectively. — MNA
