Deputy Health Minister leads inspection on diarrhoea disease control in Thakayta, North Okkalapa townships

Deputy Minister for Health Professor Dr Aye Tun inspects diarrhoea disease prevention and control within households, as well as assesses the availability and usage of drinking water in the ward on 13 July 2024.

Deputy Minister for Health Professor Dr Aye Tun, accompanied by Director-General Dr Myint Myint Than of the Public Health Department, inspected the Thakayta Township Public Health Department on 13 July 2024.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister instructed officials to assess the current outbreak of diarrhoea disease in Thakayta Township, gather on-the-ground information, review existing disease preventive and control measures, and identify necessary steps to enhance the supply of safe drinking water and essential medicines in the area.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of raising public awareness about diarrhoea disease.
Subsequently, the Deputy Minister inspected water supply facilities, environmental sanitation practices, and activities related to the prevention and control of diarrhoea diseases in Ward 2 of Thakayta Township.
The Deputy Minister also visited Ward 2 of North Okkalapa Township and inspected diarrhoea disease prevention and control within households, as well as assessed the availability and usage of drinking water in the ward.
He emphasized the need for health workers to collaborate with other departments and charitable organizations in the neighbourhood to effectively prevent and control diarrhoea disease and promptly address community needs.— MNA/TKO
