Deputy attorney-general attends 13th ASEAN political-security community coordination conference

Deputy Attorney-General U San Lwin joins the online ASEAN political-security community coordination conference yesterday.

The 13th ASEAN Political-Security Community Coordination conference was held through videoconferencing yesterday morning in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Current Chairman of the ASLOM (ASEAN Senior Law Officials Meeting) Deputy Attorney-General U San Lwin attended the conference and discussed the activities of ASLOM.
He said cooperation among ASEAN countries is being enhanced to improve the legal framework. ASLOM and the ASEAN Law Association (ALA) are cooperating with each other.
He continued the process of joining third non-ASEAN countries is currently being negotiated as the Mutual Legal Assistant Treaty (MLAT) in criminal matters has been incorporated into Annex 1 to the ASEAN Charter. He also added that ASLOM is advising on implementing the ASEAN Charter, ASEAN’s response to Emergencies and Disasters and on issues such as the protection of children’s rights.
The conference also discussed implementing the APSC Blueprint 2025, the status of the development of the ASEAN Post-2025 Vision, and the Timor-Leste application as a new ASEAN member.
The conference was also attended by Director-General Dr Thi Thi Myint of the Union Attorney-General Office and legal officers. — MNA
