According to the Ministry of Health, the number of dengue cases this year has decreased by almost five times compared to previous years.
There were 1,309 dengue cases nationwide in the first half of this year, resulting in three deaths. The most affected age group is youngsters, specifically those between the ages of five and nine. Adults aged fifteen and older also experience a significant mortality rate from the disease.
Dengue fever is transmitted through mosquito bites, and symptoms typically begin to appear four to six days after being bitten by an infected mosquito. In the initial stage of dengue fever, symptoms include a sudden onset of fever, headache, body pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and sometimes the appearance of spots on the body, as stated by the Ministry of Health.
In addition, the Ministry informed all that spots may appear on the forearm when blood pressure is checked with a blood pressure monitor. Still, this occurrence does not indicate any other alarming symptoms. — TWA/MKKS
